More and more people are getting into the environmental habit of collecting used batteries and putting them into recycling bins.
The recycling station for used batteries has been collecting used batteries since 2003, and has accumulated almost 5 to 6 tons of indisposed batteries. Unfortunately, they have not yet found a proper way to recycle, Guangzhou Daily reports.

"Some disposed low-mercury or mercury-tight batteries are under polluted influence. So we are encouraged to bury them with common garbage," commented a staff of the solid garbage management center of Guangzhou, which is subordinated to the Environment Protection Bureau of Guangzhou Municipality.
Compared to the recycling value of disposable batteries, mobile batteries have more economical value. But now there is no particular enterprise for recycling mobile batteries in Guangzhou, the staff said.
The reporter was told that a disposing center for electronic garbage will be built in the Baiyun District. An insider said, the dangerous stuff in the mobile batteries is protected by the tough outers, so they are safe to keep at home before the center is finished.
In China, battery recycling has not yet formed a format system. The issue of recycling the disposable batteries is still long way off.
In other countries like US and Japan, governments offer subsidies for batteries recycling enterprises. Korean batteries producers must pay a number of fees for the recycling.
